Hick was the last to join the club, the question is, with the amount of international cricket being played these days, meaning people play less FC cricket, will anyone join the club in future?

Mark Ramprakash scored his 81st today, but he's 36 and doesn't have long left. He may be one of the last to make it. Matt Hayden has 74, Darren Lehman 75, but both are knocking on.

Ricky Ponting has 64 and is 31, so he probably has a very good chance of getting there.

no FC includes test matches, but in the past people would play a test one day and then play county the next. that doesn't happen now, some of the England players will only play a couple of non England FC games this year.

For instance Boycott played 609 firstclass matches of which 108 were tests. only 22 of his 151 centuries came in test cricket

Interesting topic Dave, well done. I'd never considered this before.

You're mostly right I reckon, but then again every now and then a Graeme Hick will pop out of the woodwork. So there will be more additions to the list, but they'll just be a lot rarer.

I've wondered about it when playing ICC...
You see Hick with his 100 Hundreds and you look at your own amazingly good Batsman and they're lucky if they get 50 hundreds.

The reason said earlier about less games in a season for a Test regular is true but also the length of careers needs to be taken into account - Hick retired in the last few years but he'd been playing for about 20 years - it's much harder for a player to be playing for 20 solid years now.

None of them will get it. IMO it would have to be someone who played a hell of a lot of domestic cricket (England or India) and scored a lot of runs but never played many Tests due to better, in-form players being in the side and a few failures at 'A' team level. He would have to start playing from late teens to late thirties - 20 years, five tons a year?

He's played 91 matches though....so at that rate he'll have to play 500 FC games to do it...which is unlikely

Ponting is the best chance you'd think. Lehmann doesn't seem particularly close to retirement either... he was right up there in Pura Cup runscoring, and has another season with Yorkshire now. 2 or 3 more years and he could do it.

Hayden will play for a while too, but he's not playing county cricket any more, so it's unlikely he'd get there.

With central contracts it would seem very unlikely that an English player with the possiblity of Ramprakash will do it. Another excellent first class English player of the last decade John Crawley only has 50 so he isnt going to get close.

It's feasible that Rob Key could get closer than most, he's only 26, has 28 so far and it's quite likely he could still score heavily but not get in the England side, whilst still getting selected for A tours etc. Don't think he'd get 100 but he may get to 70 or 80.
