threads like these feel a little insulting to Rahul honestly, next up we'd be comparing Dravid to someone like Richie Richardson.

The reason they are close is because their away records are close though overall edge to Dravid since he had more top series against top bowlers for me.

Dravid is ATG in England, great in NZ but like Miandad is iffy in Aus. Miandad is ATG in NZ against Hadlee. Miandad better in SC. Dravid struggled against SA while Miandad did against WI.

Miandad we accept home inflation then Dravid has the 2000s flat bat era too.

Dravid>Miandad away pretty easily. Much better in Australia (a Great Series, 40+ avg), Great in WI as well. Dravid is legit better away than Home.

Now now. Don't exaggerate. Dravid has an edge at best.

Miandad 38 in Aus, Dravid 41 in Aus including three sub par series in four including flopping against McWarne.

Dravid ATG in Eng, but Miandad also very good.

Miandad ATG in NZ, Dravid also excellent.

Dravid sub par in SL where he struggled against Murali, great in Pakistan, Miandad very good in India.

Dravid poor in SA while Miandad poor in WI, both with one excellent series there.

Dravid awesome in WI though will give him that.

Dravid and Miandad aren't comparable in England anyways you put it. Miandad was fine in England, Dravid legit one of the 2nd best there after Don.

Always subtract about 3.5 off Javed's test average for a more realistic indication.
Ok but then minus Dravids Zimbabwe and Bang runs and also minus the flat era tax.

Btw once you minus SL from Miandads average his average increases to 54.

Once you remove Bang and Zimbabwe, Dravid averages 49.

If you want to remove points for Miandad at home, cut 1-2 points for Dravid in the flat era during his peak.

Anyways you look at it, overall output is better for Miandad and this gap between them is close.

Dravid with a 41 avg and 2 critical match winning performances being described as sub par in Australia while Miandad in England being described as 'very good' doesn't compute. Miandad failed massively in his tours there against Willis and early Botham and made some ridiculously soft impact less runs on highways in later tours against some atrocious bowling attacks. Don't rate his runs in England highly at all.

Overall as batsmen it's very close, but Dravid wipes the floor with him as an away batsman.

Why not ATG?

I think I can sum it up by, simply put; except his runs in NZ, Miandad has nothing worth fawning over away. At most, can add good in India. Dravid is ATG in England and NZ, excellent in WI and Pakistan.
