Don't get the logic behind these, if a Batsman had equivalent away numbers to Ashwin and was dropped away as regularly, nobody would even compare him to Steve Waugh.

Overall, the only country Ashwin was truly bad in was SA. He has enough silver linings in Australia with a hefty WPM and a very solid average in England. And he got some real shitters in Saffa. And Ashwin isn't the only highly rated bowler who was dropped consistently away *wink wink*

same all can be said for Kane Williamson.

also, the other guy being dropped for away games, could also just be overrated garbage.

It is said about Williamson. His home output isn't as Great as Ashwin overall imo and his record in England, India, SA and SL, as a leading batsman is very underwhelming. Again, Ashwin's record is perfectly fine in England (averages 28) and Australia (plenty big moments, contributions in wins and draws, outperformed Lyon, good WPM overall).

Hm, averaging 70 in swingy conditions isn't as good as Ashwin at home? and didn't Kane perform in super bowler friendly conditions of the rose bowl to win the WTC? and has a big series in Australia? sounds similar enough to me.

Ashwin was the reason India won consistently everything at home for 12 years. Think that counts for something really. Kane is good in Australia, but Ashwin is better in SL (against Sangakkara, Mathews, Chandimal, Samaraweera, etc was a very good batting at Home). Then you add his batting and don't think I will have him much behind Steve Waugh overall.

Why brian Lara was not that good against teams other than top 5 of his Times?
Against bottom most teams (outside top 5)

BC Lara - He scored 3456 runs in 65 innings at an average of 54.85 with 10 centuries.

Steve Waugh- He scored 4208 runs in 89 innings at an average of 63.75 with 15 centuries

Among the top 10 batsmans since 1990
Only Ponting , lara and Root averages <60 against lower rank teams (other than top 5 teams according to w/l Ratio)
