Yeah except he had better match performances then Ashwin in 2014 and 2018 series in Aus.
Youre going to talk bout Ashwin and high pressure games lol? He was known to fail at key moments.
Not in 2018. 2014 maybe, otherwise Lyon was cooked like a burger. Choked at the most important moments.

If Jadeja had played half his cricket in England (46 average against them) then he wouldn't even be in this discussion.
They made pitches for Swann, why wouldn't they make pitches for Jadeja? Just like how they made pitches more recently for the seamers because the spinners were horrendous for England.

Feels about right, although not sure there's that much between Maharaj and Herath.
Anderson and Broad took most of their wickets after Swann was generally washed. Smh you should know this by now.

I mean, Herath has longevity and that’s pretty much it. Obviously they played very different roles but c’mon, Herath averages 40+ in 5 countries.
Maharaj doesn’t take big hauls, and I feel like that would be unreasonable to expect given SA’s attack, but he does his job and keeps it tight and takes wickets pretty much everywhere. Other than weight of wickets as main bowler vs usually 4th most used bowler, Herath’s best thing compared to Maharaj is probably his Australia record. Both struggle vs India home and away.
Odd to say about someone in comparison to Herath, but I think Maharaj is more rounded.

Unfortunately for you, the stats don't really back up your opinion.
When playing with Swann at home:
Anderson 129 wickets in 30 Tests at 25.65
Broad 124 wickets in 29 Tests at 25.65
That's actually a bit of an absurd stat @Coronis that those two should have the exact same average at home when bowling with Swann.

Really so in 2nd test of 2018 Lyon was MoM for fun?.
Choking? Ashwin in SA in 2013 and 2018 did that costing them series. Also other examples.

2nd Test Ashwin didn't play. Lyon took 8 wickets in the first innings at Bangalore after going up 1-0 in 2017 and choked all the way from there. Did pretty much the same in 2023 for the first two games. And of course there's 2021. Ashwin has nothing on that level, sorry to say. Lyon took 9 wickets across 4 Tests, almost matchfixing against his own team tbh.

So what if Ashwin didn't play in the 2nd test in 2018 it was the same batting Lyon was facing.
Ashwin is better in India though Lyon has performed well there IMO. He performed well in tests outside those you mentioned.
Sure Ashwin did better in 2021. But I never disputed that. Only that Lyon has performances vs Ind in Aus that Ashwin doesn't vs Aus.
