I remember Afridi in the 90s batting with Anwar. For every good cameo you have 3-4 innings where he gets out in the first two overs and exposes the rest of the fragile line up.

Obviously he's going to look crap compared to the best ODI opener in Pakistan history by a mile.

Yeah but Pak batting in the 90s was so fragile man especially chasing. Losing early wickets sent the rest of the lineup in likely collapse mode.

I would always laugh that the easiest way to get Afridi out is a rank short delivery outside off that he hits in the air. Or caught in slips.

Lol, it's a hypothetical stat, not a real one.
I'm sure some tailend bowler who happened to cross the inning threshold would have the lowest time spent at crease.

I actually do believe that you ideally should have a blaster at the opening position. But I think you need a minimum run output to make it worthwhile. Jayasuria may not bat at Afridis pace but he would get that job done better. Sehwag and Gilly get that done too.
Though I would be willing to entertain Afridi opening in a Pak ATG XI as they have the batting to spare to risk him.
