Absurdly Awesome Cricket Stats

The 1948 Invincibles were a great team. and you could tell from the first day of the first match of the tour against Essex.

They set the still standing record for most runs in a single day in FC cricket with 721 (all out) in 129 overs. It was also the only time they were dismissed in a single day (at least Trevor Bailey would jokingly boast about this)

The closest to breaking this record was Arunachal Pradesh and Hyderabad in the 23/24 Ranji Trophy, with 701 in 87.4 overs (Arunachal Pradesh 172 in 39.4, Hyderabad 529/1 in 48) - this included the fastest FC triple century from Tanmay Agarwal - 147 balls.

Looking at the (frankly ridiculous) scorecard for that match, I'd say Suhas Pampana was criminally underbowled.

Two test players who achieved their high score and best bowling in the same match (both innings and match wise)

Michael Vaughan, 197 and 2/71 vs India, Trent Bridge 2002 (MOTM)
Kuldeep Yadav 40, 5/40 and 3/73 vs Bangladesh, Chattogram 2022 (MOTM, dropped for next game)

I believe these are correct.

Most consecutive calendar years with a test century - 17, Jacques Kallis (1997-2013)

Most consecutive calender years with a test 5’fer - 16, Muttiah Muralitharan (1993-2008), James Anderson (2007-2022)

I was wondering if Root was a potential challenger to Kallis, but he missed out in 2020. Can't see that record being beaten for a while.

Anderson's record is daft when you see he had one 4 years before that run even started.

Its actually Big Daddy who is closest to matching Kallis I believe. 13 years and going strong.

He plays Zimbabwe and West Indies and a tbd 3rd opponent this year I believe. I’ll be shocked if he doesn’t hit 14.
