Allan Border is a good shout for that
Onlymone cricketer that I'm aware of had the unmitigated gall and audacity to print his hatred.

I've heard stories of some top tier players, some that's never mentioned around these hallowed halls.

But Sunny put his into print.

3 of Boycott's fastest innings.

His fastest 100.

And whatever these are.

only him and Border really

Border legit bragged about throwing coins at poor people in India and made fun of their mannerisms, which is insane to me

on the matchup itself, Gavaskar is just a strict upgrade over Boycott, similar capability in defense and on tougher wickets but a much better strokemaker which allows him to go big much better. I'd say Geoffrey is about De Villiers level and Gavaskar near Hammond.

This is a magnificent, matchsaving innings in a game that could never be won. It would have ended badly if he had scored faster.
If we can ignore the SR for a second, this is 40% of total team runs in an entire game across 2 completed innings. In a pretty strong batting lineup. And a close game. WAG.

And Im not sure striking faster would ever have been a good thing. England were behind in this match. When you set a tiny 4th innings total, its probably a good thing that you batted slowly. Both because it gives you the chance of an (away) draw, and because it gives you more of a wearing pitch.

No argument with any of that.

Sunny really was an attractive stoke player and a superb batsman.

Yeah Sunny had good stroke making when the balls were hittables, that's what really elevated him beyond just another defensive test Batsmen to a Elite ATG, didn't let bad balls go unpunished.

I actually agree, imo him facing that many deliveries makes it even more impressive.

Whatever it takes!!!
The Border quote is really bad. He included the coin throwing incident as an "amusing" story in his autobiography IIRC.

Wait what that cant be true. Never heard this before. Do you have a legit source?
Pretty sure I have shared it here couple of times before. Lemme search during lunch.

What I could find so far - https://indianexpress.com/article/o...ralia-ball-tampering-steve-smith-ban-5112352/

Pretty sure I did read that people died in that stampede.
