Suggestions for improving Cricket Web

Not a bad idea and I can see that working for some sites.

I suppose the main point is we've had the CW forum for 24 years now. Are we thinking of changing something here that isn't really fundamentally broken?
I think the fact that it’s being discussed now is an indication that improvements may be needed. They are mild annoyances for now but I reckon the door is most certainly open to a more severe attack.

Whether the solution I suggested will work or not is up for debate of course. Does it restrict new members too much? Do the pros outweigh the cons? I don’t know.

Just scroll past the occasional spam thread, ya babies. Restricting new posters is dumb
Yeah I’d be against restricting new posters. In fact there are some old posters that need restricting

Tbh I don’t even have any issues with the millions of comparison threads being created if it brings joy to a few people. Let them have their weird little fun. Similarly I don’t even think trolling is that bad a thing (to some extent).

I just don’t like that I tend to miss out on reading other threads because of the way new posts works.

Is there any way the ignore function can be extended to hide posts where someone has quoted a poster you have on ignore? Asking because certain threads (e.g., football thread) have become unreadable due to certain posters "Richard-ing" them.

Some rules of engagement need to be set for these blow-ins. One thread for Durham fans = fine. A second? Borderline. A third about a pre-season fixture? Get bent.
I seriously don't get them......move on from old forum cos it's going to ****, join new forum and bring them all over. Start exclusive threads only of interest to old forum and chat amongst themselves about said old forum/members/mods.......they can all get bent afaic.

Sorry about quoting him, I think I might stick him on ignore too.

I think they're coming here because the old forum is closing due to the owner's paranoia about law changes in the UK.

I don't either but comparison threads, other bullshit, and posts by people you've blocked still appear in the overview of the forum/list of subforums when you open the site, which can be annoying.
