2024–25 NZ domestic season

I'm quite hopeful about Auckland's treatment of McKenzie as a batter. It would be very easy to pigeonhole him in at #7 via the thought process of "rugby player" + "fast bowler" = "big hitter" so the fact that they're not doing it suggests some talent there (which fits in with my perception). And he's had a few good knocks in this position. Hopefully he plays PS.

It wasn't a defensive shot. It was barely even a shot.

I'm not a big believer in natural talent (read 'Peak' by someone Ericson), so Allen has to apply himself like everyone else has to. If not, he'll get the results his application deserves.
He's a junkyard cricketer. That was a decent ball and others may have got out to it, but he didn't watch it.

The cricketing world needs the likes of Allen, Konstas and JFM to fail so order is restored. If anyone hasn't seen Konstas' dismissal in an FC game against Victoria, bowled by Boland going across his stumps in the 3rd over, it's the worst millennial cricket shot I've ever seen. If TH sees it, I fear he'll wander into the Waitakeres and never re-emerge

Konstas is a strange one. He's tangled himself up in JFM like hype. But maybe that's why he was disposed of so quickly. Though he looks a better player than either Allen or JFM.

I have zero time for Finn Allen, and his ilk. I keep reading he should still be in the Blackcaps. Not for mine. Not in his current morph, anyway.

I am not sure what constitutes as failure for these guys, though. They appear found out at the longer formats, but T20 guns for hire? Decent gig if you can get it. And, seemingly, they can.

This is a really good match, Canterbury look comfortable and Matt Boyle has started excellently, but Auckland still in it with a wicket it two.

Tough trip for the Hearts on Friday. I was on the same flight as them from Auckland to Dunedin, and as I picked up my rental car, one of the Hearts staff was on the phone to NZ Cricket, as someone had stuffed up the rental van bookings. There was no cargo trailer (when there should have been) and potentially not enough seats in the vehicles they'd been allotted to get everyone into town. It was never going to end well from there - right down to a last-ball loss.

Wait so Guptill is on for Neesham although Olliver is listed as 12th man. Surprised Guptill isn't playing (if he's available).

Surprised Mckenzie hasn't bowled more. Seems like an X-factor player. This is brilliant from Hay. Relatively low-risk shots but terrific timing and power.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
Hay saved his best till last it seems.

Canterbury too good. I didn't see the Auckland bowling innings - did it swing just as much for their seamers?
