Also, Molehill is being silly coz it can also be a disadvantage playing a must win game to qualify for semis and then back it up in the actual semis just a day later.
I think the difference is that India can spend Monday either relaxing or having a net. It's not even a must win game for them on the Sunday as they know where their semi will be played, they can happily rest players with little consequence. Their opponents will be spending 3 to 4 hours on a plane, together with the hassle of getting through airports.

I kind of hope that India go on to win this easily (I think they're the best side anyway and don't need extra help) as it will put further into the spotlight what a shitshow this is and hopefully never happen again.

Or Other Teams should grow balls and object to these scheduling.
But I get it . Other Teams can’t live without BCCI money . So don’t cry now .
So let me see if I get your stance. You believe that the fault of being a little bitch lies with those who don't object... being a spoilt brat is OK if no one complains. That's basically it.

Yes ,they should object if they feel Ind is getting advantage.
Similarly our players should complain that WTC final in 2027 should be held in Asia .

Whatever it takes!!!

Yeah but you speak as if this was a foregone conclusion at the time of scheduling. I would rather risk a travel plus 2 day break before a semi than just 1 day break after a potential high intensity game.

Nah.. its far more nuanced than that. Ideal scenario would be simply to play without India which apparently was an option BCCI put forth (probably not with a straight face, lol). But look, even if India travelled to Pak, they would have simply played all their games in Lahore. It is an unfortunate political reality that this is the best and safest option even if our Govt let India play in Pak.

Actually March end could be ideal time in Asia. All the series of a WTC cycle gets completed by the end of February
Its a pretty perfect time for cricket in most of India. And honestly, India is big enough with enough good grounds to be able to play a one off test basically anytime of the year.
I think you've missed my point. There's no chance it gets played then as it clashes with the IPL.

Because of when the cycle starts, the first realistic time to play the Final is England in June. Otherwise you're probably waiting another 5 months to play it elsewhere apart from the WI. But playing it in England does at least pretty much guarantee that the flagship Test event isn't played in front of an empty stadium.

Anyway, I'd just bin that concept but that's for another thread.

I think they are playing in England as that is the only place that gets crowds for neutral tests tbh. Its really all there is to it, I feel.

Cbf looking it up but if this finishes a NR, are both these teams assured of going through?
One side is definitely in with 3 points but the other can miss out if one of England or Afghanistan win both their last 2 games to get 4 points

That likely makes the SA vs Eng a semi-final decider (assuming everyone beats Afghanistan)

I won't assume that

That's fine but Afghanistan have to beat both Australia and England to have any chance with 4 points. Same with England in that they have to beat both Afghanistan and South Africa to have any chance. Drop 1 game and they're out.

No, and you might find yourself cheering for England tomorrow as a result!!
Could come down to NRR for top spot, after South Africa rather comprehensively beat Afghanistan and Australia didn’t exactly sneak past England, but likewise didn’t batter us, I think it’s advantage South Africa in that regard

Without Bumrah though, I would not bank against New Zealand, who have been every bit as professional as we’ve come to expect from them this tournament
