Ferguson ruled out Jamieson in
Well that takes away a major point of difference in NZ's attack. Not sure Jamieson makes sense when you have Henry and Duffy in the squad. Milne would be the proper replacement though I guess turning out for T20 leagues isn't considered ideal prep).

Thought fisher might have been an outside chance given his pace and success in his India tour a while back
that would be a ridiculously bold move from an nzc management like the current one

i think it is what it is, nzc is doing the best they can....lockie is getting up there, not 150km anymore but his control would have been very much welcomed....sears was honestly bowling s*** and way down on pace anyhow.....rn only o'rourke and henry are locked in as the 2 seamers but whoever the third one is....will be massive pressure on them to perform....whether it be duffy, smith or jamieson....

just be glad they didnt call up timmy southee

Jamieson really has been quite dominant in the NZ domestics so far since returning from injury.

The way he and Matt Henry have really dominated, is not replicated by the other blackcap bowlers this season.

However, 5th seamer in the squad ? .... sounds like a pointless plane trip.

Jamieson won't arrive in time to play Pakistan

Smith 9, Henry 10, O'Rourke 11
Yeah might as well stack the batting, even if the one thing Duffy has going for him is being slightly better in the death overs than pretty much everyone else in the squad. I expect India's batting to send NZ on a leather hunt, but the attack should probably manage the goods against Pakistan and Bangladesh.

Just do not want Jamieson to be rushed back into situations like this and in formats where he's less crucial to the side, but will admit the possibility of watching him partner Henry with the new ball under lights is exciting.

At least Milne took a wicket today, unlike Jamieson.

I've just never rated KJ as a one day bowler, & think picking him is stupid. It's like picking Rachin for a T20WC squad, oh that's right, that actually happened.

I don't necessarily disagree and I'd rather Jamieson be rested from short ball so we can get the best out of him in test cricket, but he's played 13 matches, taken 14 wickets and averages 36 - which is not great, but not terrible.

That said, there was another New Zealand speedster who we almost collectively wrote off after a similar amount of matches when they were included in the world cup squad - at the same point in their career they had 14 wickets at 38.

Hottest take - selecting Boult for that tournament was a disaster as it gradually turned him into a white ball bowler and ultimately reduced his red ball effectiveness and truncated his test career.
