Upon reading the latest Cricket Statistician, research by Shahzad Ali Khan has discovered that Imran Khan took four wickets in five balls in the Sialkot Test Pak v SL in 1985. The sequence over two overs was 0,0,0,1,W,W (New Over) 2,W,W. The wickets were of Arjuna Ranatunga, Ashanta De Mel, Rumesh Ratnayake and Roger Wijesuriya. We now appear to have a further addition to this unique club, which is now Maurice Allom, Chris Old, Imran Khan and Wasim Akram in chronological order.

Pakistan have only been defeated by an innings and 200+ runs a single time in their test history (as have Afghanistan and Ireland, already). All other nations have 4+ instances of this, Bangladesh with the record of 10.

Teams have lost by an innings and 300 runs 8 times, with 7 different teams featuring.

England has won by an innings and 200 runs a whopping 16 times, compared to nearest contender at 10. All other teams have done it at least 3 times, except Zimbabwe, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Ireland, the latter two which haven’t won a match by an innings at all.

Mike Hendrick holds the record for most wickets in tests without a 5’fer. 87 @ 25.83 from 30 matches. (better English bowler than Anderson?)

We all know about c Marsh b Lillee.

5 combos have 50+ dismissals with non-keepers (all are spinners)

77 - c Jayawardene b Muralitharan
61 - c Smith b Lyon
55 - c Dravid b Kumble
51 - c Taylor b Warne, c Dravid b Harbhajan

40 - c Cook b Anderson is the record for a pacer/non keeper

Smith and Lyon are by far the highest active pair of players, including keepers. In fact only one other combo (c Pant b Bumrah - 39) reaches 35 or above.

And of course Murali insane as always has 35 c & b

Bradman still holds the records for most runs at 2 seperate grounds - The MCG and even more amazingly, Headingley

Bradman @ MCG
11 matches 17 innings 1671 @ 128.53 9 tons (half of his home tons)
Bradman @ Headingley
4 matches 6 innings 963 @ 192.60 4 tons

Don’t know if either Smith or Root will surpass him. (over 400 and almost 300 runs respectively)

And here’s Bradman’s worst grounds home and away

SCG
8 matches 12 innings 703 @ 58.58 2 tons - reduced to mortal level

Old Trafford
3 matches 4 innings 81 @ 27.00 - reduced to recent Kohli level

Also one last ground one. The ground that has held the most test matches (outside of Aussie and English ones) is in fact Basin Reserve in NZ, with 69. Shoutout to the Kiwis, did not expect that.

One that surprises me is that the ground that's held the most Test matches in Asia is Galle.
I found that one a little less surprising tbh. I struggle to remember the last time SL didn’t play at Galle or SSC. iirc India have many more grounds to use and theres not really been a consensus on which to use. And Pakistan obviously had that big period where they couldn’t even play tests at home, otherwise surely Karachi or Lahore would be ahead. Guess NZ is ahead based on SA’s ban. Surprised me that the Windies didn’t have a ground ahead of them though tbh.

Had a quick look at the Headingley stats. The bloke who might've challenged Bradman's record was KP, but he only played 4 Tests there during his career (averaged 85). Ponting averaged 82 there as well.

I just realised also that Bradman made tons on 90% of the grounds he played on (excluding Old Trafford of course lol). And on 8 of them he made double centuries. (only made 3 sub 150 tons at Trent Bridge - pathetic) In fact at Adelaide he made 3 double centuries against 3 different teams.
