Record duhAgain, based on what?
Chappell's WSC performances were more transcendent in the 70's than anything Sunny did.

U think Chappell>Gavaskar too?Wynaut?
I didn’t say that. I just don’t think its like, a crazy opinion to haveU think Chappell>Gavaskar too?
do u rate Gavaskar's 1971 and 1979 windies runs is probably the deciding factor in Gav vs Greg.I didn’t say that. I just don’t think its like, a crazy opinion to have
I think it's like Compton vs SA in 1947-48do u rate Gavaskar's 1971 and 1979 windies runs is probably the deciding factor in Gav vs Greg.
many don't rate those runs much at all, or rate it like Hammond vs NZ
Exactly.do u rate Gavaskar's 1971 and 1979 windies runs is probably the deciding factor in Gav vs Greg.

Exactly.
not really my opinion, I've seen people rate it that way or completely discard them by saying it's runs against a second string west Indies lineup, personally I rate it similar to Compton vs South Africa in 48 or Weekes's runs against India, B team bashing but not minnow like 2000s Bangladesh/1930s New Zealand or 1980s Sri Lanka. How is Gavaskar in 1979 the same as Hammond flattening a club standard early era minnow NZ? Ridiculous comparison. Even if you want to discount Marshall because he was early career, that WI team still had Sylvester Clarke, who was very quick and was rated as a very tough bowler to face by lots of batsmen of that era despite not having a long career.
Loved that "Exactly", especially regarding the 71 Series.not really my opinion, I've seen people rate it that way or completely discard them by saying it's runs against a second string west Indies lineup, personally I rate it similar to Compton vs South Africa in 48 or Weekes's runs against India, B team bashing but not minnow like 2000s Bangladesh/1930s New Zealand or 1980s Sri Lanka.
