Benaud's teams were considered to have over-achieved given the resources at his disposal. Before the war Bradman had factions plotting against his captaincy.

When Frank Iredale named his all-time World XI in 1919, he said his captain would be Trott or Noble. Harry Trott was partly responsible for Ranji playing Test cricket. Opinions in England were divided over his eligibility, but opposing captain Trott said his inclusion would be welcome so that the public could see the best players.

He would have had one if England didn’t cheat with the ball change in the fifth test smh
Meh. No use whining about it now.

I think the next away ones we have are what, 26/27 B/G and 2027 Ashes. All 3 teams (especially Aus) could look very different by then. WTC is also scheduled to go for 2025-2027. 2027 Ashes seems a perfect time to retire for a few Aussie and English players. Though some Aussies might play whatever we’re doing that summer for a home farewell

Australia really can't even win a series in England with the gods on their side and rain literally saving them one whole match huh
