2024–25 NZ domestic season

Yeah the coverage on CD vs Canterbury is great.

Mariu hasn't loved white-ball cricket after dominating the Plunket Shield. Looks like Randall and Toole bowled extremely well though.

I love Max Chu. Turns out that randomly starting to hit a four every ball is a very effective approach to one-day finishing. Shame he didn't get his ton.
Is having exactly the all-format breakout season that you'd hope for a 24 yr old who has played a few domestic seasons already. Kudos to him.

Must be worth a go in white ball cricket for NZ soon.... if we ever decide to move on from Latham. Hay having a somewhat average season in the meantime.

It's good to have Siffert and Neesham back playing.
Also Jacobs has been back (form his little stint in the UAE t2o0 league after the SS finished / Auckland got knocked out, don't think he actually missed an NZ cricket in that time away)

Missed one Ford Trophy game iirc. Auckland had an awful side for that game.

I've been on the Chu train since seeing him at EPOO in 1st season. Lovely use of body positioning and bat angles and late ball contact to glide behind / in front of point. And has now added leg side power hitting to his off side timing game.

Before today Chu Ford trophy average 31, SR 98, Hay average 13 SR 77. Super Smash Chu average 28 SR 155, Hay average 11 SR 134. Ever since Hay got picked for the white ball tour of Sri Lanka, Chu has been winning the "next best" keeper-batter race. But Chu is not from Canterbury and only 24 so might need to wait another 6 years ...

Until this season, Chu's record in both the white ball formats was pretty bad. He has passed 50 for the first time in both T20 and LA this season.

Some seasons wasn't picked much, and Otago played Renwick (I think, as keeper in white ball).

He's definitely looked to have rounded out his red ball batting now with some power.

Oh yeah didn't notice that. Seems Seifert did reasonably well in the Big Bash, but I just saw he performed poorly for the well-known Sharjah Warriorz in the International T20 League too. Wonder if he still swings himself off his feet all the time while going for the big shots. He was... close at times to securing that NZ T20 spot, and then other times just looked awful, particularly against quicker bowling.
