**Official** Australia in Sri Lanka Jan - Feb 2025

Asalanka's technique was good enough to be practically the only batsman to master the conditions today. Really great ton.

It was an odd looking Australian team but I suppose justified for the CT coming up. I'm not sure where we're going to get any decent starts if we're relying on Short and JFM as openers. I don't think our best CT team can fit more than one of them in the XI. So you might as well go all the way and leave both out. Maybe Short still has some hope of making it as LO international but I think our best XI would be Head, Inglis, Smith, Labuschagne, Carey, Maxwell, Hardie, Abbott, Johnson, Ellis, Zampa.

The
Short is poo and JFM is worse than poo

Not sure what is the reason for starc to pull out too. None according to his wife

I'd like to see Carey opening. A top 7 of

Head
Carey
Smith
Marnus
Inglis
Maxwell
Hardie

I think the only way Labuschagne stays a Test batter is if he opens in WTC final, so might as well make him an ODI opener as well (better than alternatives McGurk or Short)

1. Head
2. Labuschagne
3. Smith
4. Inglis
5. Carey
6. Hardie
7. Maxwell
8. Abbott
9. Ellis
10. Zampa
11. Johnson

Yeah and who bats #3?

I'm not sure Australia know how to bat out 50 overs anymore. Here are times bowled out in last 6 months

165 - 33.5 overs vs Sri Lanka
140 - 31.5 overs vs Pakistan
163 - 35.0 overs vs Pakistan
126 - 24.4 overs vs England
270 - 44.4 overs vs England

You could say we’re going into the CT with a 13 man squad as those two positions are wasted. Well maybe one because I have more time for Short than you. I think I’ve gone past being cranky with JFM, as it’s not his fault. The people who are pumping up his tyres now will most likely cut him adrift when he’s eventually dumped. If they’re going to select on gun bbl form they should pick Owen. At least his form is more recent, consistent and he looks to have some kind of a technique.

Same old Aussies eh? I’m sure with the history between Australia and Sri Lanka that the Australians will come down like a ton of bricks on the guy now…
I'm sure your criticism of Smith was as muted as when Atherton was fined after his case of tampering? I doubt there is a bigger hypocrite in cricket than an English fan jacking off about the spirit of the game. Breaking the stumps of a fat, gormless, **** who's left his crease isn't cheating either. It's called run out or stumping. The same gormless **** even tried it himself but came up with a self serving excuse to act in the way he complains about in others, such is the untreatable nature of English privilege.

The Murali incident at least generated the current protocols on throwing. Kuhnemann is just submitting to that process as everyone else. No special treatment here so you can shut it.

Cam Green.

Labuschagne
Khawaja
Green
Smith
Head
Carey
Webster
Starc
Cummins
Lyon
Boland

Note hazlewoods still injured, and faces a long recovery, and its fair to say based on his questionable injury history, hes no longer a 1st choice bowler in the Test team on seaming wickets- Boland is and he was brilliant last WTC. Boland also single handedly won us the BGT- without him, we would not have the BGT trophy and also the series victory.

There's a short article by Ben Horne in The Australian today saying they've received reports that people in the domestic setup, including match officials, had expressed concern 'for some time' about Kuhnemann's action, and that they essentially didn't formally report him because no-one wanted to be the person who brought that kind impact and stigma upon his career.

And now look where we are...

isnt it ironic of all countries that it was in SL that he was reported? a country that produced Murali..

Kuhns action totally looks ****ed. But who knows. As a batsman facing the delivery, surely the issue is how it looks coming out and that is what should matter, rather than all of these technical excuses. And if it doesn't matter to the batsman, who cares?

and yet they had no dramas reporting chris green. this is the exact type of racism towards south afrcians that peter dutton warned us about.
