Sachin wins longetivity over Marshall but Marshall wins quality imo, his record is absurdly flawless.
From a country to country standpoint Sachin is even moreso. Marshall became a regular at peak and retired fairly young. You do Sachin from 92-2011, you get a pretty perfect 2 decade stretch.

tbf Maco's longevity is mid even by a pacer standard, especially his duration of regular game time; while SRT's a level above. I mean, its 13 (9 as regular) v 24
I give SRT the Longetivity point but think Marshall is simply the greatest bowler ever, I don't think SRT is the 2nd Greatest bat ever, and Marshall is a handy lower order bat too and that can play a role as we saw with Cummins in BGT. imo it's Marshall but SRT>Macko is fine I guess.

Longetivity just won't beat Marshall's quality imo

All things considered both are the absolute best.

Maco is perhaps the best ever fast bowler.
Sachin is perhaps the best ever batsman(outside Don)

Maco’s record also benefits from starting full time at the perfect time and retiring before dipping.

Sachin’s record takes a hit slightly because he debuted at a very young age and retired little too late.
tbf Marshall also started a little too early, it's tragic he had to retire at 31 but I won't hold it against him, cancer is no small thing.

It's not just longevity. It's longevity with similar quality. The truth is Marshall being best has much to do with his 3 SC tours, which Hadlee lacked, largely not for his own fault

Unpopular opinion : I rate Hadlee on par with Maco.

Even if he is slightly behind in quality, he makes up for it in terms of longevity and being a one man army

Maco was diagnosed with cancer in 1999 and it was revealed during the World Cup. It was said his weight was reduced to 25 kg and he didn’t want to be photographed.

a Batsmen vs an express fast bowler at longetivity is not fair, at all.

Plus, Marshall is the Greatest bowler to ever walk the Earth, Sachin is in a heated debate with 4 other dudes for that spot.
Marshall definitely had more concentrated greatness in returns.

But Marshall had a shorter peak and career even compared to other ATGs.

He also faced IMO slightly worse opposition overall and had tremendous support which gave a slight boost to his stats.

For Tendulkar over 20 years to average 40 plus in and against a wider variety of teams IMO is more impressive.

Whichever combo with Sobers on it really. Sobers beats Imran in all 3 discipline by a clear margin. Primary, Secondary plus fielding. And then you get to have arguably the best fast bowler of all time alongside Sir Garry. No contest.
