**Official** Australia in Sri Lanka Jan - Feb 2025

Whatever it takes!!!
Chuffed for Carey.

And good to see Smith somewhere near his best too. His have not been the best inning in either of these Aussie batting efforts, but he is ensuring the partnership is going.

New ball today is the last chance for Sri Lanka. Pitch does offer significant turn for the new ball and not much experience left after these two. Get Carey and Smith early, keep the lead around 150 and hopefully bat better to make 300 leaving a nasty fourth innings chase. If they don't take the remaining wickets in the first session with especially one of the over night batsmen playing through, SL are doomed

One of the many mistakes SL has made so far is in being so defensive

They obviously need quick wickets now but hard to take when you don’t have fielders in catching positions and the bowling is negative

Smith played incredibly well but barely took a risk and it’s almost as if they’re relying upon his weakness of getting out in the 140s

Haha why on earth would they play Connolly at home?

I agree with you that Marnus could well be dropped for Green but Head will stay in the middle order and Konstas will open IMO.

I see. Maybe Konstas will go back to open as no Bumrah. Marnus definitely dropped for Green. Given his age it might be the end of his international career. He wasn't that good.

If you are going for a like for like replacement for Marnus, it should Patterson at 3. Green would be out of place at 3 so he would have to settle at 6 at Webster's expense

Just to clarify, he'd be out of place at 6 too but atleast he'll have an easier time batting there compared to #3

I think green could make a good #3 if he has some county games and shield games there beforehand. My concern would be managing his workload.
