Charles BannermanHas anyone in the history of the game done less than Connolly to make it to test level?
Not saying he won't be great but jeez talk about a wrap on a young bloke.

stats explainable- ricky ponting had flatter wickets during his era, Smith had lots of tougher wickets for batters(especially in the past 5-6 years, early on he had flatter wickets) so more catches taken. Also the batters were better during Pontings era- he had to deal with peak Indian and South african batting units. SAF was basically a 2nd australia at times.Steve Smith

Yes all correct but my stats were about catches taken, not about batting specifically.stats explainable- ricky ponting had flatter wickets during his era, Smith had lots of tougher wickets for batters(especially in the past 5-6 years, early on he had flatter wickets) so more catches taken. Pakistan, SL, even Windies all had proper batting lineups in those days, they dont now, theyre all basically minnows now.
Thats why its tough to compare different eras. Quality of the teams now are ***
Yes.Taylor aside, I can remember long stints of the others in midfield. Has Smith been mostly slips?

It's simpler than that. Ponting didn't field at slip to the spinners, ever. That would probably make up the difference between the 2 alonestats explainable- ricky ponting had flatter wickets during his era, Smith had lots of tougher wickets for batters(especially in the past 5-6 years, early on he had flatter wickets) so more catches taken. Less consistent competition of lazy batsmen in the slips as well. Head doesn't go there, Marnus is all over the shop, Usman was a terrible short leg at first then used somewhat as a ring fielder in between his droppings before he earned the privilege of not having to run ever again. Warner's been his only consistent company throughout the last decade..It's simpler than that. Ponting didn't field at slip to the spinners, ever. Shoaib Bashir was averaging 60 with the ball in the CC when some idiots decided he was the best spinner in England.Has anyone in the history of the game done less than Connolly to make it to test level?

Hey @Shady Slim, can you remind me how many First Class wickets Connolly has? I've forgotten. Was looking at the scorecard and about to say… who the **** is Cooper Connolly?
the answer is the same as the Bulldogs' chances this season @Shady SlimHey @Shady Slim, can you remind me how many First Class wickets Connolly has? I've forgotten.
Feel free to let us know how many wickets he's taken in his four white ball international appearances too. Thanks.

Four is also the number of bowlers Sri Lanka used when Australia put up that huge score, wish somebody could find out if that's the highest one there is when a team has used four bowlers...Hey @Shady Slim, can you remind me how many First Class wickets Connolly has? I've forgotten.
