Sanga averages just 40 as a wicket keeper batsman.

What benefit does he give me over Kallis who averages 55 with the ball and 32 with the ball?

What benefit does he give me over Hadlee who averages 22 with the ball and 27 with the ball?

It is the same with Gilly. I would rather have Knott as a wicket keeper and ATG batsman/bowler.

If I have to choose between Gilly and Kallis, I would rather have Kallis and semi decent WK bat.
On the lip side of the argument as a pure batsman Sanga averages 67. That is better than everyone by far other than for Bradman.

I won't pick Kallis over Hadlee. What I am saying is they are in same class.

Gilly provides you an almost ATG (ATG against pace) batsman and almost ATG keeper giving space for another ATG bowler or a batsman. People forget you can only have 11 in a side.

If we go by cumulative ratings, the only players above Kallis are Sobers and Bradman?

A top 15 batsman
A top 10 slip

Arguably the 2nd best 5th bowler of all time.

However I don't rate players that way, and Lara, a pretty decent slip himself and a higher tier batsman, comes in a couple places higher than Kallis.

Actually pretty sure you guys are more aligned on Kallis than any other subject. (though thats not hard)

Maybe devaluing pre-war players too.
They're pretty aligned on Kallis' batting but Kallis is also kyear2's favourite type of allrounder - frontline specialist batsman and useful fifth bowler who can take speccies at slip. So as a cricketer they're pretty divided on Kallis.

Kyear had Hobbs at 5-6 iirc which is acceptable considering he also rates Hammond. Subs probably think all these guys are street level Cricketers, so won't say their views properly align there.

Kyear includes Barry ****ing Richards ahead of Hobbs in his AT XI. Subz I believe still includes him after all that bitching.
