I hope they stick with the winning team and give Murphy another chance. Even if it's only to make him realise his bbl method isn't working here. Kuhnemann has the drop on him (no pun intended) but I still like Harry Potter long term and there isn't the potential blow up over his action.
This is how he's been bowling in the Shield as well

Lyon saw the flat darts Murphy was sending down and said nup.

In all seriousness though, there are some situations where Murphy's current MO, while being less versatile than what he looked like on debut, could be handy.

How come Khawaja hss 2 Baggy Greens, or is he wearing the bowlers?

Looks good anyway, someone should design that as a real cap 😀

For the record, I've just watched the Fox highlights from the 1st 2023 test against India where Murphy took 7/124. His bowling speeds shown in the video were:

92.1
94.0
91.1
93.0
93.7
99.7
95.4
92.8
96.1
90.7
93.8
93.9
93.9
93.8
94.2
81.1
91.4
87.4
81.4
85.3

If his speeds in India were consistent with the speeds he's always bowled, it seems that the speeds he bowled in the test just gone were in fact normal for him.

So there was a little tidbit in the Lyon article today that I didn't realise:

Lyon is mostly free of a left hip injury he suffered in the summer, though he is still in pain if he falls on the area.

"But I didn't have to land on it today, so all good," said Lyon, who took match figures of 7 for 135 in Galle. "Apparently I ripped the deep tissue off the fascia [hip muscle], whatever that means. Apparently there was a bit of excess blood or something in there. Not ideal, but all good now."
This would certainly explain the lack of power through his action this summer that @Starfighter in particular picked up on; it'd be pretty hard to pivot fully with that kind of injury, you'd imagine.

I think he did have some more subtle changes before though, but I'd have to dig up older highlights.

Apparently word is that Marnus will be dropped for the 2nd Test. Likely replaced by Konstas, or possibly Connolly
I’m not sure what’s triggered this very recent bout of proactivity on the part of our selectors the past few weeks, but I’m here for it.

Thinking you made this up. Konstas is reported to be heading back to Australia for Shield and Connolly would never bat #3 when McSweeney is available

Surely the thinking behind Connolly would be that he bats 7 in a straight swap for Webster. I mean, I'm not saying it's a good idea, but that's the actual logical way to slot him in the team.

Ah okay my bad, I must've seen the numbers wrong or saw the very odd one under 90.

Surely that's Dan Vettori's job to communicate. It was absolutely easy pickings
Too quick too flat and does not turn the ball

He's become a BBL and T20 bowler. Darts. That's what all the white ball does to your technique as he's really young. It has completely ruined his development for tests. For him, money wise is in the T20 but I don't see him getting picked again for tests as Kuhnemann is still only 28

So when Lyon finally retires in 2028 or so, Kuhnemann or someone else will need to be picked.

It's been confirmed Konstas is on a plane back to Sydney. Will be playing for NSW vs Qld this week-end.
