iconic because played for India. Lol. AB was the leading run scorer for SA when SA won first time in England in 2008. He chased 400+ in 2008 when SA won their first series in Australia. In 2018, he ripped apart the Australian attack when SA won their first home series vs Australia. First double ton in India by an SA batsman. In 2012, SA won the series in NZ, he was the savior in crunch situation in the only resulted match. His match saving knock of 33 in Adelaide 2012.
high quality bowling.

high quality bowling.
Do you think Dravid has?.
AB has great knocks against Johnson, Cummins & Hazlewood, Jadeja & Ashwin, Murali. He scored well against them when team mates were struggling on spicy tracks. Not like Dravid who scored on highways most of the times. May be except England. Lol

How to spot poor cricket knowledge 101. If you'd watched the Headingley game, you'd know that was a complete greentop on day 1 with the ball swinging around corners. But nope, you just looked at the scorecard and went "road" because India made a massive score. They made a huge score because Dravid weathered out a ridiculously tough day 1.
Fair enough I shouldn't have said roads given that opening morning but it wasnt a quality attack which is what I was addressing. But please don't pretend you never checked a scorecard and commented on it.

high quality bowling is a lame criteria, Dravid is objectively proven more against seamers and swingers while De Villiers against guys with excess pace and bounce

Dravid wasn’t a FTB. I think they’re about equal against spin and low bounce fast medium bowlers. ABD is a level above against high bounce 85+ mph bowlers imo.

Okay chill. I remember the match,

See I remember that match. Sanjay and Dravid were ultra defensive in the first session against the swinging new ball under overcast conditions. Once it became blunt and sun was out, the runs were coming fine. That was the traditional batting in English conditions. Dravid excelled in that. You can't say this as hight quality bowling when 600+ scored against them. There is a difference between 'negotiating new ball' and 'playing high quality bowling'. I do agree with your point about the past players had better defense.
Don't go back to high quality bowling now when you know the part I was responding to in your posts was calling that Headingley pitch a road. Gladly we were able to establish you both were wrong on that point, I am satisfied.

Well. I take back my statement about that Headingley one. I see the ball swung even after first session though the pitch was not a green mamba. It was not on a road definitely.

One of Dravid’s best innings against peak Bond

De Villiers kinda overrated against spin and movement.
Dood. No batsman is overrated than the batsmen from Top 3 (Aus, Eng, Ind). De Villiers had issues picking leg spinners but was great against off spinners. He was great against seam and good against swing.

Check 83 vs NZ in 2012, 97 vs Eng 2008, 104* vs Australia 2009 when the ball was swinging and he did well. In 2018 vs Australia, he dominated the bowling attack when it was reverse swinging.

Why only pakistan pitches mainly supports reverse swing?

Arguably the best player of pace since Viv
