not really anymore, a year later Viv would be losing polls to Younis KhanYes, but Viv is fairly highly rated bar a (very) small crowd of people.
Where do you get this crap?not really anymore, a year later Viv would be losing polls to Younis Khan
Nobody rates Viv anymore etc, might not take top 10 bats list next time we do the whole batters ranking thingWhere do you get this crap?
Disagree. He is easily top 6 everytimeNobody rates Viv anymore etc, might not take top 10 bats list next time we do the whole batters ranking thing
Greenidge and Hayden aren't equal and Trumper being well ahead is very questionable.Typo. Meant better. They are both Great, but Greenidge and Hayden are around equal and Trumper is much ahead of this bunch personally.

Thoughts on Simpson vs any other Windies opener? Just curiousGreenidge and Hayden are equal and Trumper being well ahead is very questionable.
I'm not rating a pre WWI that far below Hobbs ahead of anyone from the era.
don't think this is true
Stop talking out your ass.
The vast majority of people here see him either in the BBB category, alongside the big 3, or right behind them. I think that’s perfectly fair.
Batsmen stats are more impacted by (fast) bowlers that the other way round.2-1 West Indies.
That pace attack alone will ensure victory. Two of them are giants and impossible to play or score against, while Marshall is arguably the best ever. Even the very best will struggle badly against this attack.
The addition of Ambrose makes a big difference. It's a far stronger quartet!
Holding is arguably better than Lillee.Lindwall is arguably better than Holding.
Hmmm.... I actually considered Ponting hard. Can honestly take him over Waugh, no hard complaints really. Matter of fact, probably will do that. My reasoning was Smith batted ample at 3 and Chappell at 4; and the 5/6 of Border and Waugh looked really strong and in position.I get the whole Lillee thing that I don’t agree with and I know your love for Trumper.
Your dislike of Ponting is well known, but even say if you rate Waugh above him (I’m assuming you don’t have him SUPER far ahead as that would be a whole other discussion, I find it hard to reconcile with Waugh over Ponting here.
Waugh, love him or hate him, is basically just a worse Border imo, feels redundant to have both. Think Ponting fits the middle order much better.
Then in the middle order you’ve got a dominant home player (and specialist number three, like really you’re batting Smith out of position?!), two players who are excellent home and away and the great away batsman who can hold down an end while Gilly churns out a quick ton. Just my thoughts tho.

Now look at Warne's averages in and against the West indies and add Sobers, Headley, and Viv to that. And note the fact that Gibbs aren't playing on these surfaces. Now add Warne and Gibbs. I will for ya
Marshall>McGrath>Warne>Ambrose>O'Reilly>Lillee>Garner>Holding>Lindwall>Cummins>Davidson>Walsh>Roberts>Grimmett>Miller>Hazlewood>Gibbs
I don't think I have seen enough of a case to suggest any WI bar Lara would be comfortable to Warne. Benching Gibbs is a new one. And McGrath is a beast anywhere. Pacers belongs to WI, but bowlers to Australia. Now look at Warne's averages in and against the West indies and add Sobers, Headley, and Viv to that. And note the fact that Gibbs aren't playing on these surfaces.
And speaking of these surfaces, Ambrose is way more of a handful than even McGrath..
Without doubt.Oh Ha Ha
I'd bet good money on Warne being taken to the cleaner by Viv/Lara/Sobers anyway
