In England their bowling was comparable. Hirst kept Barnes out of the national team.

Abroad Tate clearly made more impact. Still has most wickets in a series for a bowler visiting Australia (38), and most in an Indian first-class season (99).

Not all records of Beldham's career have survived. In all cricket he is believed to have scored 9000+ runs at an average of around 21. Three centuries. HS 144. He also took more than 300 wickets. Average unknown.

Sylvester Clarke usually faced one or more decent batsmen in the opposition. FC record in each country:
