Don't remember reading anything about that. I thought the main thing with DRS advantaging spin vs pace was better judgement of line, which would surprise no-one who's seen umpiring from the 70s.
I'm almost certain it's about height. The big thing that it eliminated was the Dickie Bird style "not out" where you could plonk your front foot down the line of the ball and not be given to a ball that pitches middle and hits in line with middle because it "might have been going over".

Regardless, it's not a 'Dickie Bird style' one where umpires wouldn't give anyone out when forward, even if they were hit on the half volley.
In any case that has nothing to do with this instance because the ball actually went over the stumps despite only making slight contact with the pads, and not in a manner that would suggest a strong upwards deflection.
