I'm quite surprised at that. The fact the ball went over the top of the stumps despite only brushing anything made me think it was probably going over.
It passed the front pad well below the knee roll; those are out way more often than not (at least on height).

(I deleted then re-posted once I saw the replay again, as I didn't actually see it that clearly the first time)

I don't see why 'often' is necessarily a factor considering how forward he was. If anything spinners tend to bounce the ball a lot more than most people expect. That's what made it surprising for me.

Felt like a really massive score was there for the taking but a fantastic innings nonetheless.

Fair way to start a Test career.

Isn't this the opposite of what DRS tracking has shown? The increased curvature of a spinner's trajectory means that the ball isn't going over the top anywhere near as often as people thought (especially in the subcontinent), whereas height is actually more of an issue for fast bowlers' LBWs more than was expected.

Don't remember reading anything about that. I thought the main thing with DRS advantaging spin vs pace was better judgement of line, which would surprise no-one who's seen umpiring from the 70s.

A lot of people, in my experience, tend to project almost horizontally in their mind when spinners are bowling.

In any case that has nothing to do with this instance because the ball actually went over the stumps despite only making slight contact with the pads, and not in a manner that would suggest a strong upwards deflection.
