Ftfy.Gavaskar has the best, followed by Smith and Sobers, for me. Yk I think Viv is a bit overrated for his peak in General.

I mean...the same thing very much applies to SmithSobers has the best, followed by Smith, for me. Yk I think Viv is a bit overrated for his peak in General.
he doesn't have Gavaskar too high, I think his placement of Gavaskar is pretty reasonable.Ftfy.
also, this feels awfully elitist if you don't mind me saying that, you're basically validating Smith's runs against a helpless weak West Indies on flat home roads in intensityless matches over Viv's 4 hundreds against Lillee and Thompson on Australian wickets, in the same format and at the peak of the Windies vs Australia feud. just feels deeply authoritarian without a reason.P. S : WSC isn’t test cricket.
WSC was better than test cricket at the time. Excluding it or treating it like first class doesn't make sense.also, this feels awfully elitist if you don't mind me saying that, you're basically validating Smith's runs against a helpless weak West Indies on flat home roads over Viv's 4 hundreds against Lillee and Thompson on Australian wickets, in the same format and at the peak of the Windies vs Australia feud. just feels deeply authoritarian without a reason.
the people who actually played treat it as extremely high level Cricket as well, and it wasn't like a Yorkshire vs Warwickshire game where a bunch of friends or atleast fellow countrymen were playing, it was Australia vs West Indies just with WSC behind their names and a couple of "rest of the world" games thrown inbetweenWSC was better than test cricket at the time. Disagree. Viv had more leaner patches than Smith at peakViv 1976-81>Smith 2014-2019, More ATG tours, more iconic, more destructive and less FTBing...and that's without WSC.
I disagree, he had one bad home series against Pakistan and 2 bad innings against Australia, Smith had objectively more tame/lame serieses.Disagree. Viv had more leaner patches than Smith at peak
Viv had a whole mid year in his peak and two where he hardly played for WSC. His peak was, by all means of practicality, 3 years in length (granted Smith's was also 4).I disagree, he had one bad home series against Pakistan and 2 bad innings against Australia, Smith had objectively more tame/lame serieses.
Yeah that's why I take WSC stats seriously, but even without, 3 vs 4, Viv has the 1976 England, 1979 Australia and 1980 Pakistan, Smith has 2017 BGT and 2019 Ashes, plus Smith has no impressive work at home at his peak.Viv had a whole mid year in his peak and two where he hardly played for WSC. He scored a Really **** tons of runs at home..... I don't think it's unimpressive really.Yeah that's why I take WSC stats seriously, but even without, 3 vs 4, Viv has the 1976 England, 1979 Australia and 1980 Pakistan, Smith has 2017 BGT and 2019 Ashes, plus Smith has no impressive work at home at his peak.
well I disagree with your view on FC, I'd take Viv's 1976 India series over any Smith home series personally, and also think Smith's average flatters him considering just how much he has plundered a weak Windies. He scored a Really **** tons of runs at home..... As I said, I have my questions on WSC and think they should be weighed as FC.

Smith averages 52 odd without West Indies iirc, and his averages are lower than Root against every team bar Ashes tests and the West Indies who are significantly weaker without dukes, so at the end of the day Smith's peak is also just good work away from home where Viv beats him and home track bullying on the flattest pitches possible which doesn't really move me, Smith also went missing against South Africa at his peak and in Sri Lanka at his very peak so it's not like some insane consistency. basically, Viv outdoes him in term of quality, Smith outdoes him in term of making runs against mid 2010s Windies/Pakistan/India at home on the flattest wickets possible, I don't really see where Smith's advantage lies honestly. The **** you mean you disagree!!? you know nothing of the gameAnd that's fine really. Yes, Viv 76 vs India is better than any particular Smith home series, but overall home record of Smith is easily better. Again, not totally sold of WSC, but nevertheless they weren't Tests. So like he was either bad or absent for half of his peak. And it's 5 years for Smith. Viv was a monster like nothing else in 76 and has two ATG tours later on on two separate years, that summarises it pretty much. It wasn't as consistent as Smith, largely due to playing less. Also, Smith averages significantly more over the years even bar WI
Smith without WI averages 68.8 at his peak over 51 matches. I think Viv is very dependent on a single year and Smith just played and was tested more.Smith averages 52 odd without West Indies iirc, and his averages are lower than Root against every team bar Ashes tests and the West Indies who are significantly weaker without dukes, so at the end of the day Smith's peak is also just good work away from home where Viv beats him and home track bullying on the flattest pitches possible which doesn't really move me, Smith also went missing against South Africa at his peak and in Sri Lanka at his very peak so it's not like some insane consistency. basically, Viv outdoes him in term of quality, Smith outdoes him in term of making runs against mid 2010s Windies/Pakistan/India at home on the flattest wickets possible, I don't really see where Smith's advantage lies honestly.
Viv was good at home as well, he has a series against peak Botham like the 2017 Ashes.
