Aswin vs Lyon

Lyon and Murali played in different era. Ashwin and Lyon have played against the same set of players. Lyon is expected to carry his team in Asia but that did not happen despite him having pretty much a guaranteed spot in XI no matter where game was played. Ashwin never had a guaranteed spot away when playing for Ind. He was in and out most of the times when playing away.

Yet his record is a good one. To put it in context,

All Asian bowlers with 125+ away wickets in Ind/Pak/SL/Aus/NZ/WI/Eng/SA

Only 6 bowlers have better avg than Ashwin.

Only 1 spinner, Murali is averaging lower and that too only by 1-1.5 runs.

Warne was in a different class than Ashwin
Ashwin was in a different class than Lyon

Why are you looking at Warne's record in India when era was different. Ashwin and Lyon have played in the same era. You can compare directly.

Aswin is way better than Lyon in Asia, and he is a freak in Asian pitches but Lyon is great/good everywhere, he succeed in every condition.

Lyon is better than Ashwin. He adapted to SC better than Ashwin has to SENA

Adaptation should be looked at what both did away and home separately.

Ashwin played 26 games in SENA. Not a single fifer. He was picked and dropped willy nilly there because he wasn't seen as a viable threat.

Ashwin is essentially a cricketer whose cost of being juiced up in India was to be generally sup par in SENA.

Except Australia (where Ashwin has a better record when both played together anyways), Lyon is hardly better than Ashwin anywhere

Nonsense he takes nearly 4WPM in a pace heavy side and has run through England on occasion, Ashwin has 18 wickets in 7 tests. He is s support bowler.

In NZ Lyon got some turners. Ashwin played 1 match IIRC and took 3/99. Pretty decent.
In SA, Lyon got way more spin friendly pitches.
In England, Lyon slightly better probs.

Lyon Was the Main reason, behind the result 2-0 in favour of aus in ashes 23, aus lost in other matches mainly due to Lyon absence.
And Lyon didn't get Dominated by bazball.
So Lyon holds more importance in Eng than aswin.
