England players and selection discussion thread

Some players with FC experience there. Still don't understand why Flintoff Jr isn't in this squad though. Joe Moores is related to Peter as you'd expect (nephew) so expect him to play for Trent Rockets in the Summer, on merit..... obviously

Presumably is statistically the worst England opener or top order bat with 50+ tests? It's an indictment of top order batting in England though that his place is not seriously under threat

They are hoping one day he might get a good score until then he is kept like a pet.

It's a bit of both right? Alternatives aren't great but he is being given way too much rope .

They also have this completely batshit crazy belief he is made to score runs against Australia, despite the fact Aussie pitches have been very spicy the past few years.

Cricket Web: All-Time Legend
I really Hope If the under-19 player Jack Home becomes famous the barmy Army sing a song with the tune from England's 1970 World Cup song.

Cricketer Of The Year
I just asked Copilot the same question and it suggested:

  1. Duckett
  2. Root
  3. Brook
  4. Stokes (c)
  5. Bethell
  6. Woakes
  7. Smith +
  8. Atkinson
  9. Carse
  10. Bashir
  11. Nathan Lyon
(Reserves: Jonny Bairstow, Stuart Broad.)

Seems pretty reasonable actually.
Lyon is a strong pick for England, who can forget is helping hands at Leeds in 2019?
