I don't think his bowling was good enough.
I'd rather have one of Harris, Oram, or perhaps Santner (play 2 spinners). Santner's batting might be too weak for 7 but with Hadlee and Vettori at 8 &9 it would be fine imo.

He picked 220 wickets in 60 tests at avg of 29. That’s a top class record, way better than Haris, Oram and Santner.

I meant in ODIs. The other three were good ODI bowlers while he wasn't. Cairns was a better bat but he'd need to share his ten overs with someone like Astle, Crowe, or Mitchell

yeah my apologies. I forgot we were discussing ODIs.

But still feel Cairns should be ahead. He got 200 ODI wickets and was better batter.
