playing at 3 isn't really impressive if your country has zero side ways movement, for Gavaskar and Sangakkara it's probably borderline an advantage considering they get to face pacers and get set before the spinners come along.

Ponting probably batting at three helped him, after 2002, I don't think a featherbed specialist like him have the skill to play spin from first delivery

So you want arguably the second greatest batsman of all time and the most successful batsman at number 4 position to bat at number 5. Why?
Because that position suited someone adaptable like him who could both consolidate/accumulate and counterattack. Whereas Viv needs to lead a frontal assault at 4 with Bradman.
