Warne was the man of the match in 1999 SF & Final. He was banned from the 2003 World Cup just a few weeks before and it made no difference. The team was so strong that even if they missed a few players, they would have still win the tournament anyway.
Exactly.

It's getting to the point that McGrath is getting overrated

Wonder what happens if McGrath gets banned before the WC instead. Probably something similar to the 2005 Ashes.
He was definitely more important to their test side than the ODI team imo. Australia had several other really great white ball bowlers (maybe not quite at his level but Lee, Bracken, Warne were all genuinely great in the format imo).

They probably could've won 03 and 07 without him, that team was just way too good.

Yeah not a big ODI guy lol so I’ll accept anyone’s superior knowledge on the subject.

Yeah I think McGrath was arguably an even better ODI bowler than he was a Test bowler, but he was definitely less important to the side. Part of that is just the nature of ODIs that makes specialist bowlers less impactful and part of it is the depth you mentioned.

McGrath.
At his peak, it was just uncanny how frequently he lifted his game on the biggest occasions to get the key batsmen of the opposition.

McGrath was consistently excellent in the 2000s when pitches were flatter. I rarely saw him collared in ODIs. Even if Wasim was a better death bowler, McGrath was slightly better overall.
