Was wondering when you would get to this.

Steyn played in a batting era where everywhere but SA was flat. Some are a little too high, but it at least makes sense.

Imran played in a bowling era where according to you everywhere but Pakistan was lively.

See the difference?
In 20 years, 70s + 80s including both, 6 bastmen had 50 plus avg

In 20 years, 00s and 10s including both, 18 batsmen had 50 plus avg

Steyn was in different class as a bowler. SImply a stand out in that flat era where 18 bastmen averaged 50 plus. That's why you got to take averages of batsmen in 00s+10s with context and do the same for bowlers.

IK had away avg of 26 plus SR of 60 plus in bowler's frienly era. You can only make an guess what his away avg and SR would have looked in bastmen friendly era.

Assuming you are playing a top class opposition,

In Asian XI, 5 spots gets filled without any hesitations,

Gavaskar
IK
SRT
Bumrah
Murali

4 are simply top tier players and Bumrah performance is top tier with a large sample size without having a top tier career so far.

Then you start adding names.

I don't get the Anwar hype!!? Hanif any day of the week easily. Also think away Bumrah is clear of Waqar now.

Be real, even you don't rate Anwar ahead of Hanif.
No strong opinions on Hanif, I got Merchant ahead of Anwar, definitely think Anwar gets a little underestimated and then I can't really force someone to pick Merchant in their side given his test record, same way I can't force someone to have Barry open in an AT RSA XI. Anwar was a wonderful, wonderful player though
