feels like the cane train has run out of steam a bit with injury etc, i just don't see a team with this top three and cameron gannon dominating in the finals unless there is real fireworks with the bat by tim david on the level of what maxi's doing

They'll have Meredith back plus get more out of Ellis and Jordan than they did tonight. Wakim is a problem but they have McDermott back with Owen in the top order then Wade and David later on. Surely they'll not field as badly again as they have tonight.

The Hurricanes probably aren't endearing themselves to Scorchers fans with this half-arsed performance.
Scorchers not especially likely to have done much in finals anyway with Connolly out tbf, given how reliant their batting has been on him to stabilise their innings

There's a article just up on Cricinfo about contract retentions for this season. Apparently teams can only retain ten on contract and Hobart have not retained David. I know he's been terribly inconsistent up to this season, but I'm struggling to think of ten other Hobart players I'd retain over him. Wonder if there's a real clunker of a multi-year contract lurking in there.

Might just be asking for too much. Could have a big offer from the Saudi league or something for next season.

EDIT: Actually probably not because he still plays T20Is so CA would demand he played in this.

Maxwell the best pure ball striker of the current era. De Villiers was the last great ball striker of the previous era.
I was just thinking to myself, there should be a documentary on the life and times of Glenn Maxwell, and why he didn't go close to fulfilling his immense potential. He probably should have had something resembling AB's career, but didn't really get close...no doubt for a number of reasons
