Basic fact of the matter is that we no longer have real prep for subcontinental tours, and honestly there isn't anything that anyone can do about it - even if they flew them over for a bunch of tour games, it's well established that the tour games are deliberately given totally unrepresentative pitches compared to the real thing so that's not very worthwhile either

yeah I was being a bit hysterical there and both Smith and Kuhnemann will be alright to play

Still not a fan of blokes playing bbl before a test tour to the subcontinent like the last BGT in India

Would be interesting if smith misses who would be Australia best batter to combat spin. Marnus or head? Maybe ussie
They haven't picked the best bat against spin that is Handscomb. From the current squad, it's Usman easily. Marnus looks very good against spin but hasn't done anything notable yet

Head is yet to prove himself in spinning conditions

Handscomb didn't do that much against India last time tbh. I dunno why he's still talked about as some maestro against spin that outweighs his lack of Test quality in the rest of his game.

2016 tour they deliberately picked a side with no specialist spinners for us to play against in the tour match lol. The captain of the side ended up bowling a bunch of part time spinners/all rounder types a lot of overs though so he was a chill guy whoever that was

I think it was the training nets that were green tops to prepare for the dustbowl the Test ended up being. Though maybe they've done it with tour games as well. They openly spoke about it as tactics in the media as well where any other country that did it (I'm sure it's happened) would at least pretend it wasn't deliberate. Sri Lanka are gangster

Didn't @OverratedSanity proved that this claim was wrong or something?

Here's the scorecard for anyone interested.

Must admit I had absolutely no memory of Dilhara Fernando still being around as late as 2016

I was trying to emulate halba for his style of posting
Please don't

Had a quick look. We had Chaturanga de silva, Shehan Jayasuriya and Milinda siriwardene bowling. Chaturanga was a bowling all rounder who played for us in loi. The other 2 are genuine all rounders who were solid spinners at domestic. I`m sure there were better guys though

I'm pretty sure Nathan Lyon confirmed that (greentop nets) again literally this week lol
