You may as well bat Connolly where Inglis is, and pick Boland as an extra seamer. Connolly is primarily a batter, he's never taken a FC wicket.

I don't think that will stop them batting him at eight judging by their overtures.

If the pitches are looking catastrophic then I'm not totally against #batdeep. Also given Head is landing it pretty well of late.

But Zampa really isn't a red ball bowler at all. Just too easy to pick off for 3-4 an over with absolutely no risk whatsoever. Liability in the field as well

18 year old batsman Oliver Peake has apparently been invited to join the Aussie tour squad in Sri Lanka to gain some experience.

For the u19 tour of India in Sep/Oct he scored 117 in a "test" as well as 111 in an "ODI"

Presuming Kuhnemann won't tour they should just pick the next best sla even if its Ashton Agar. The next best after that is probably still Murray Bennett. He's taken fc and test wickets at least and gives us a #batdeepish option.

Agar has retired from FC cricket iirc; I'd unironically much rather pick Connolly as he at least has recent red ball form. I've never heard of Murray Bennett though

Oh yes Murray Bennett. Played 3 tests in the 80s. Most memorable as a foil to Bob Holland who won us a Sydney test against the mighty WI in 1985.
