I was thinking that this ought to be a straightforward group for India and NZ, but then Pakistan went and won in SA and of course they're on home turf (mostly) for this too.

Just realised this is in Pakistan, thought it was in SA for some reason so if I could I'd change my vote from New Zealand to Pakistan in this pool.

India and Pakistan seem most likely. Bangladesh also more likely than NZ with NZ having only picked one front line spinner and a misfiring batting lineup including undroppable Latham.

This is the new Kiwi strategy, make you think they've got no chance based on quality of squad and previous form. So far it's won them a Test Series in India and a Women's T20 World Cup. At what point will other nations cotton on to these devious little shits?

Not fully fit or lack of Kuldeep Yadav is going to cost India. He has been India's no.1 spinner since late 2023. He completely overbowled both Jadeja and Ashwin vs England in 2024. Without him, England were on track to win the test series in India. Remember India lost the 1st Test with Ashwin & Jadeja taken apart. Then Kuldeep came in from 2nd Test and India looked a different side and won all four remaining tests. He was unplayable.

He had a groin/hernia injury in the 1st Test vs New Zealand. He then missed the 2nd and 3rd tests on dustbowls. The rest is history. Also he was India's no.1 spinner in both the 2023 ODI WC and 2024 T20 WC as well. He has been critical to India's success in all formats.

With Bumrah out of CT, if Kuldeep is also out, India isn't getting out of the group, forget about winning the trophy.

Whatever it takes!!!
On paper, it is a bloody strong squad where any of the 15 deserve to be in the best XI.

But on current form, we will probably lose every game and be back home to recuperate for the all important IPL.
