what makes Shoaib better at bowling? flashier sure, but at bowling itself?
Akhtar for a period took the pitch out of the equation completely, on some of the flattest roads out there. Obviously don’t need to mention the speed and his yorkers etc.

Obviously Pollock had by far the more accomplished career, hence why he’s rated higher than Akhtar, for what he accomplished.
And yes I know about Pollock’s numbers at the start for his peak, incredible. Shoaib was a better bowler.

The question at hand specifically related to facing a “great” bowler in Asia. Shoaib was that - regardless of career achievements.
It would be like saying if some bat smashed peak Johnson around it wouldn’t matter cos they didn’t face a “great bowler” like Pollock — during that specific period, Mitch bowled better than anything Pollock has ever done.
It’s just that Shoaib’s peak lasted longer than Mitch’s. He wasn’t some Shane Bond either to completely dismiss it, he did play a fair few tests (obviously not enough for a great overall career).
