Does Jadeja make your ATG Indian XI?

The answer is Jadeja ... on home turf (2023r @ 37.46; 238w @ 20.64)

Away from home he is far less impressive (1362r @ 31.95; 85w @ 33.75) and remove his other SC stats and he slips even further (1257r @ 30.65; 72w @ 34.65).

An ATG Indian XI can't be selected to play exclusively on Indian soil.
Yeah but going by the responses many would take him based on home value even if he is a foreign liability. Interesting.

What are the away records of the other bowlers though? Besides Bumrah, everyone averages >30 away.

Ive never seen anyone even consider leaving Kapil out, with away stats of 33 bowling and 26 batting. And the other away options are a bunch worse than him.

This is a test only XI, right?

If FC were included, I'd replace Sehwag with Merchant. And I could also make a case for Hazare in the middle order.

And I ain't picking Pant.
replace pant and sehwag with farokh engineer, and you can even bat jadeja at six and have kumble too (i think that’s too high, and you’d have someone else at six and him at seven, but it’s what i’d do)

pant strikes me as someone who’ll go down as a player of great knocks rather than an all time great sort of like KP (which is a perfectly cromulent place to be fwiw)

Kumble in the 2000s was an actual impactful away bowler unlike Jadeja.

As for Kapil, unlike Jadeja who just wasn't impactful across the board, Kapil was a mixed bag but certainly capable of winning games on his day.

32 and 33 are solid batting/bowling numbers for an all rounder away right? Not amazing, but acceptable enough.

Botham for example averages 32 with the bat and 30 with the ball away from home.
What are you really getting with Jadeja away though? He is not close to winning games in SENA. It's almost like he is being selected as a batting AR away and bowling AR at home.

Kapil is already in.

For Kumble, an AR is generally going to be a better pick than a specialist as a 5th bowler. And ypu don't really want big expensive hauls like Kumble provided in this attack anyway.
