Cricket Web: All-Time Legend
Team of the Series

Jaiswal
Rahul
Labu
Smith
Head
Reddy
Pant
Cummins
Starc
Bumrah
Boland
Looks pretty good. Reddy and Rahul tailed off a bit at the end of the series, but there is a dearth of other options really. Maybe Webster would have proven his worth over more games and taken Reddy's spot, but there is a big difference between performing in one game and performing across a series. Having Marnus at 3 with his repertoire of searing bouncers means Reddy could just focus on batting at 6.

Jaiswal easily the stand out opener. The rest were shithouse.

All of you are wrong according to the wizened denizens of cricinfo, as the best three players in this series across both sides were Bumrah, Jaiswal, and... Virat Kohli.
Was this online poll and voting ?
How Rohit couldn’t make the cut then ? 🧐

Haha he's actually third last (above Labuschagne and McSweeney, which in itself is quite silly)

EDIT: But to your question, yes this is the fan voting. I wouldn't have noticed if it didn't take pride of place in the series landing page, above such unimportant factors as "leading run scorer" and "leading wicket taker", hence why Travis Head only had a middling series, comparable to Mitchell Marsh (who apparently was better than half the Aus team, including such non-contributors as Steve Smith)

Democracy FTW.
I do suspect I know what's going on here though. It's not that there's a genuine belief that Kohli was one of the best players in the series, it's an attempt to manufacture an organised public show of support to push back at the much louder criticism in the media that he's gotten compared to previous years. Online fandoms love doing this sort of thing.

Which means atleast Rohit fans have given up defending him .
