Absolutely, he was Tendulkar’s bitch . Infact Warne was so bad against India in absence of McGrath that Mumbai defeated Australian Test team in 3 days (screenshot attached)View attachment 44111
As I had said 3 years earlier also , that was a sympathy MoS . You can’t blame even BCCI for that MoS award because it wasn’t that powerful in 1999
Shane Warne bowling in India with a broken toenail.

By both sides I do mean both sides. Check out 1:15:46 here -
Yeah ,there were some massive incorrect decisions that series for both sides

This is why Channel 9 Team decided to give sympathy MoS to Sachin because all the 3 marginal decisions went against him . There is no BCCI conspiracy. It wasn’t that powerful in 1999.

Whatever it takes!!!
Well this hurts even though it was expected. Honestly, logically speaking, this side did far better than it had any right to. Winning the test and having a chance at the trophy even going into the last day of the series is a far better performance than anything I could have expected and yet this feels like such an opportunity wasted. I mentioned this feels like England 2018 earlier and its the exact same result at the end. We really should have drawn the match at the MCG.

Having said all that though, when you look at the two sides and their current form, it would have been absolutely flattering to have had this series 2-1 to Australia. India were really kept in the series only by Bumrah and the odd unexpected performance from a batsman. Its very hard to win games when you are forced to pick bowlers for their batting but that was our situation. I have absolutely no doubt that Washy and Jaddu would have done better than Rohit and Virat all series but they are also batsmen who will probably play a lot of balls for very few runs. Which is fine for many innings of this series but not for today. Obviously if Bumrah was fit, this 160 chase may well have been something else. But at crunch times this series our batsmen kept making bad decisions and throwing their wickets away and for 2 series in a row now, it has cost us. The decision making under pressure has to improve and I will blame the absolute hard stop that has happened on our A program first and foremost for all that.

I hope this is the end of Rohit and Virat at the international level. They have been great players and as all format batsmen, probably among the ATGs but its clear there is nothing left in the tank and their eyes and reflexes have slowed enough that they cant get a score at this level anymore without plenty of luck and some flat tracks. Time to reboot and invest in the A program, identify players with the right attitude and go forward. The loss to England in 2018 set us on track for some of the greatest cricket I have seen from an Indian side culminating in that England series in 2021. Hopefully this loss has the same effect.

For Australia, many congrats to them for a series where it could have easily gone wrong for them. Stll feels like they got away with some bad selections but Cummins, Starc and Boland were immense throughout the series and Head and Smith made important runs and their tail wagged enough to get them out of match losing positions, and their catching just about held up when it was needed the most. It never should have been this close given we were basically a one man team but it could have been worse for them. All set for a fun WTC final. How often do we get to see 2 SENA sides battle it out in another SENA nation for a world cup.

Kohli and Sharma now joint record holders for most single digit scores in a test year by a top 7 batsman. 10 times each.

Kohli finishes with a series average of 23.75 after even scoring an unbeaten century in the mix ...one of the lowest ever series average after doing so.

Honestly every time people try to defend pre-DRS umpiring or bring up "technology just makes things worse, just let umpires trust their ~intuition~" they should be forced to watch **** like that Clockwork Orange style. Just looks so archaic in a game like cricket where individual moments have such massive consequences.

Calling it that really should be a bannable offence.

Changes must be made- re Indian test team

end of the era. A bad 3-1 loss, with a lot of under performing players.
Changes must be made- re below
  1. Rohit sharma- he must never be selected ever again. Either he retires/saves face or faces being dropped for the next tour. Dont know why he stuck around, shouldve just gone home. completely useless player, averaged less than aussie tail enders!
  2. Virat kohli- huge weakness outside off stump, no longer test material.
  3. Gill - is not test material .Has been given >30 tests and still no results. Just gets starts only. For a no.3 player, hes been extremely disappointing.
  4. Siraj- huge drop off compared to the previous tour. They will need to assess his form, not drop him yet as he is still performing vs weaker teams in certain conditions.
  5. Sundar- Cant keep stacking with all rounders/no rounders. Spin is not effective at all in overseas. seamer friendly conditions. Why picked?

Gee that’s a powerful Australian attack with Robbo and. Locker featuring prominently
Agreed but still shameful to lose to a Ranji side in 3 days . You can blame Aussie batsmen and Warne .
But anyways no further discussion of 1998 from my side . It is Australia’s moment Today and well deserved one .

I had a good look at India when they played New Zealand in the 3 Test match series in India and they lost 0-3. I had concerns then. They bought that bad form batting wise to Australia.

Incidentally everything that's happened since has just made the way Australia prepared for this series even more bizarre. More or less donated a Test match by going in so underdone.

You'd hope it might serve as a wake up call on this attitude of non-preparation and degrading the Shield (including the 'picking fringe players to carry drinks in ODI squads' thing) but you just know it won't.
