it’s possible that smith was in all-world form between 2013 and 2017 while benefitting to some degree from certain pitches being the bouncy roads that aussie batsmen boss and overseas pacers can strugggle with - like it’s so obviously both

The last decade has had more bowler friendly decks than at any other time during the last 30 years. It doesn't mean that every pitch has been a green top or that roads haven't existed, but outside that India series bowlers have had a lot more to work with than any other time in the last three decades.

The bowler friendly era started towards the end of Smith's peak. 2017 India tour, 2019 Ashes were very bowler friendly but apart from that, it was a pretty road-y era before 2017 or so.

Siraj has just bowled the Australians to victory basically. Been awful again just like the world cup final.

Khawaja nearly 50 here. No Bumrah means he can play his normal game.
