**Official** 5th Test at Sydney, 3-7 Jan 2025

Somehow this game feels dead even which it shouldn't when the side batting first has been shot out for 180
India is still paying 3.65 (27%) - what they paid at the start of the test - but Australia is a pretty significant favorite at 1.37 (73%)....

Draw down pretty low.

I would take a flyer on those odds for India. Any first innings score below 250 and it’s even in my view.

I took it before the match started - I thought India were good odds and put some money down. I think Australia gained more on this day than India, so I think these odds are much more fair now. I don't really see India winning more than 1/3 of the time from here.

This was far more embarrassing.

Usman literally managed to get through most of today without doing anything (perfect) then Konstas had to drag him screaming into daylight.
Yep, this. There's confidence and there's ****ing stupidity. Konstas drops and runs a single with 3 balls to go, mouths off at Bumrah with 2 to go, full well knowing it isn't him that has to face the fire for the final two deliveries of the day. Yeah, Khawaja has played a mud shot but my god, if I was a senior player I'd be having a quiet word. The guy took 71 wickets last year, more than you scored runs. Calm down.

Well, he didn't know he wouldn't have to face the final delivery. Khawaja may well have nudged a single off the 2nd last ball.

As it was, the brutish behaviour of the Indian cricketers upset Khawaja emotionally, and if it wasn't for Konstas' intervention, he may have been too upset to face up to the 5th, and ultimately penultimate, delivery. Konstas made sure the game went forward. In an alternative universe, Khawaja retires 'upset' and we lose Lasagne and Smith in consecutive deliveries to be 2 down at stumps.

Konstas is a hero, and the team love him accordingly.

Don't know what Usman would say to Sam or if he should at this time. But he'd be entitled to tell him to zip it when he's not facing. Konstas probably has a precedent in the Yarpie Eric Rowan who sledged Ken Farnes. Dudley Nourse wandered down the pitch and told him to shut up or he'll kill us both. I don't think Dudley was overly concerned for Eric's welfare.

We'll know a lot more by the first hour tomorrow but I don't think I'd be enthusiastic to chase anything of substance on Day 4

If he did face the last ball, could we have bet against him trying something remarkably dumb like charging or reverse cover driving?

Konstas is heading towards being a word that sounds somewhat similar to the first syllable of his name

It’s not Konstas fault Usman is finished at this level. An opener afraid of a fired up quick won’t make it at test level.
He is afraid though, no matter his pseudo tough posture, and the words that came out of mouth in shaky, high pitched tone.

Konstas your typical zoomer or whatever tf young ***** of a certain age are called. Mouthy and irreverent by default but will play the victim once someone calls him a worthless lil ******.

I hope he learns from it. I don't like to **** on zoomers, although many of them are quite annoying.

He obviously has some spark, would be nice to see him take that and transform himself into a proper test cricketer. Will take humility though
