**Official** 4th Test at Melbourne, 26-30 Dec 2024

Will he be given any away series?
the SL tour as its spin friendly. that could be his final series. 4 tests here, all 4 tests 100% ineffective. Todd murphy will be the main frontline spinner for Aus for the next 5-7 years. He was already reasonable and tidy in his appearances so far - 21 wickets at an AVE of 25.4. We cant afford to have the main spinner not performing especially on a 5th day pitch.

I still don't give India much chance of winning this match but a draw is starting to look more likely with this partnership.
True. But if they do make it to tea 3 or 4 down they might have enough batting in the bank to have a proper go and then anything could happen.

Pretty much the same position in terms of runs scored as they were in the Gabba chase at this point
At tea they needed 145 runs with 7 wickets in hand at the Gabba. I don't think India can get that close at Tea here. Depends on how quickly and successfully India can get on a roll.

if aussie bowlers are smart they will switch off the intensity in another 20 overs and wait for the SCG test

Maybe , but a wicket or two they may close up shop. Washy and even Jadeja aren't the most destructive of test batsmen, and sure NKR is due a flop?

If they score 100 runs in an hour (so going at about 7rpo) then yeah that'll certainly change things

yep thats the main issue. the main destructive players are here now, with NKR. Washy and jadeja are mixed batters- defence combined with selective offense.

248 off 50 overs is 5 RPO and doable in the final session with some big 44s.
No.

So with 37 overs left with this ball - Australia will have about ~10 overs with the second new ball? Assuming india make it that far, hopefully they’ll have at least 3 wickets in hand to navigate that.

Then why not promote the man in form up to number 6. And he's a right hander which is good to mix with a lefty. But Rohit is the captain so yeah nah
