**Official** 4th Test at Melbourne, 26-30 Dec 2024

Or maybe they were up against Adam Gilchrist, Matthew Hayden, Ricky Ponting, Brett Lee and Glenn McGrath - and Zaheer Khan, Srinath (of 2003 vintage) and Ashish Nehra are not really in the same league? Sometimes it just comes down to talent.
They were always screwed for that match. IIRC it was Ganguly who decided to bowl - a very Nasser Hussainesque decision.
Only chance they had is if they batter first and Sehwag/Tendulkdar got going, posting 280+

I wouldn't want him to play another match.
yep not all time great player but a good player 47 AVE - depends on final game at SCG

Good is 42-47 ave in tests for middle order batters. Guys like Mark Waugh, VK here, Hashim Amla, Ganguly, Damien Martyn are in this good but not great book. Great middle order #4 -#6 bats, Tendulkar, ABD, and Kallis would be at the ATG category.

great is anything above 48-50 in my book for middle order players, for openers anything above 42-44 is great e.g. Alastair Cook, Desmond Haynes, Justin Langer, Hayden, Sehwag, Graeme Smith, David Warner(atleast at home).

He’s obviously declined but to me he was a great player, particularly out here, which is the only place that counts as an away player.
Yea 7 hundreds in Australia makes him a great.

There’s players out there with 0 hundreds in Australia that get rated as “greats” which is hilarious.

It’s probably a combination of a few things, one of which is feeling for the ball when you’re light on runs. Lot of players do it, looking to get bat on ball, even subconsciously. Another factor was Starc had shaped two back at him really dangerously the previous over so he may have been in two minds looking for that ball again.

All happens in a split second

Speaking of Splits, my arsehole nephews devoured my supply of Australia’s best value iced treat when they stayed over Xmas, so I had no choice but to buy three boxes of Bulla Splits this morning to top up
Did you shoulder barge them and then stare and sledge them when they turned around?

It’s quite remarkable that kohli hasn’t been able to adjust his game outside off at all
There’s a youtube video somewhere where he talks to Nass about how he adjusted his grip and stance for the 2018 England series where he came back strongly from the disaster in 2014 and managed to score runs.

Either that was bs, he hasn’t bothered to try and change anything since, or he simply can’t do it after 20 years of muscle memory.

The other obvious explanation is of course his childs health is not so good @honestbharani

for how many years was Peter May sub Zak Crawley level?
Sub 35 average:-
Kohli:- 5 out of 14 years (2011, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2024)
May:- 3 out of 10 years (1952, 1953, 1960)

How much does May average in Australia and away from home as a whole?
