Really think Khawaja is done. That’s not done an awful lot and he’s missed it by miles
Holding out hope he's just in bad form and will recover seems like a fool's errand, but it probably has more going for it than calling up Harris.

It wouldn't surprise me if he just hung them up after the series though.

I think they'd bring back McSweeney to replace Khawaja tbh. I think they're holding out hope that Khawaja can make bank in Sri Lanka before retiring.

I could see him doing decently in Sri Lanka, maybe. He's still arguably our best slow wicket player so it would hurt to lose him for that.

Not sure if he can play the next Ashes though.

He is. You could tell pre series in the Shield games he played. Looked an average at best Shield player and nothing like he had from 2020-2023. Really hope he has the awareness to call it rather than drag it out, because the selectors will let him do it to keep 1 experienced opener

Enthralling session. Felt like 2 sessions worth of cricket there, such was the intensity of the battle and with the extended hours of play.

He averaged 48 in the few Shield games he played.

I would half agree in the sense that I don't think he looked at his best while doing so, but it isn't accurate at all to imply he failed there entirely
