**Official** 4th Test at Melbourne, 26-30 Dec 2024

Whatever it takes!!!
Being reported Konstas is confirmed to open, so at least that kills the rumour of moving someone up (or Inglis doing it).

Also reported Head struggling with his injury with very little net time. Concern over where he would be able to field. That could open the door for an Inglis debut at 5

Selectors and coach yet again saying Marsh is fit to bowl as many overs as needed so sure to play as the allrounder 😞
If Head misses out, you are also missing your best 5th bowler. As a matter of fact, if it is indeed gonna be a green mamba or grasscourt as projected by the media, I would definitely have seriously thought of bringing in Jhye for Lyon in the confidence that Head can bowl the spin required. But with Head out, even that 10% chance is off the table, I feel.

Groundsman said it won’t be as lively as recent matches & will be similar to last season

Head will definitely play.

But he is a chance of making his injury worse and be ruled out of Sydney Test.

Not a problem. Bring in Jhye and if Travis can't bowl the Root type of spin we'd just get McSweeney instea ...

How much credit should 6 good tests buy someone?

Since Marsh's recall (after 4 years out) he had 3 tests vs Eng and 3 tests vs Pak where he had brilliant batting form: 6 tests, 594 runs @ 66.00, 1 century, 5 fifties (5 wkts @ 50.40)

However, in the next 7 tests vs WI, NZ and India he has 225 runs @ 18.75, 1 fifty (4 wkts @ 39.00)

He should be dumped by this series end at the very least..continual wasted selection. He cant bat and he cant bowl.

When you look at the records of each member of the Marsh family, I don’t think that it’s an exaggeration to say that they have played at least 30 tests too many combined

Was flicking through lowlights of some of Australian cricket's worst moments of the last decade, boy Shaun was the biggest disappointment of the three. Such elegance. A shame he was so lazy in defence he made Khawaja look crisp in comparison.

Mitch probably has overstayed his swansong by a year. On the plus side, Green has been spared the stats demolition. Can you imagine Bumrah targetting his bat / pad gap?

It doesn't feel normal for a series between the top two teams in the world to see both have so many selection queries. Even the one that has bossed the last two games. I mean it's great drama for the neutrals but both sets of supporters seem a little irritated and frustrated with their selectors.

I would say I am more frustrated that our side is not any better than any real issue with the selections tbh. Yes, they could have played Akashdeep in Adelaide and maybe Harshit for NKR at Brisbane. But really, its understandable why they want the batting insurance given how bad our batting is. And our worst batsmen are guys who have the most credit in the bank. So, I am more frustrated at what we have than what has been selected, if that makes sense.

Yes complete sense (as usual). There was a period when it felt like every Indian debutant hit the ground running and everything seems so much uncertain now. A while ago I was sure India would win next summer but not so sure now. It still seems though there is a lot of quality if it can just be blended together a bit better.

Not surprising news given the proximity of the remaining tests, but the door appears shut on Shami coming to Australia. His heel his fine but his knee is blowing up.
