Top 5 or 10 or 15 fast bowler?

vs Eng : Avg of 17.9 in 19 Tests
vs NZ : Avg of 20.6 in 9 Tests
vs Aus : Avg of 20.9 in 18 Tests
vs Pak : Avg of 25.1 in 8 Tests
vs Ind : Avg of 43 in 4 Tests

In Eng : Avg of 16.5 in 10 Tests
In NZ : Avg of 16.9 in 5 Tests
In Pak : Avg of 19.2 in 3 Tests
In WI : Avg of 22.3 in 29 Tests
In Aus : Avg of 25.3 in 11 Tests

Statistically speaking he is among the very best and has a more complete record than other legends but he played as a support bowler in majority of his matches.

So his 4 Tests vs India were at home? Curious.

I've seen him referenced in recent times as an extremely fast bowler but my memory is that he was a long way from the quickest of that Windies generation. It was more about the bounce and the yorker wasn't it?

My clearest memory is of him providing a mercy killing to the England and middle and lower order in the WC Final and finishing off the job started by Boycott and Brearley.

Top 10:-
Malcolm Marshall
Glenn McGrath
Richard Hadlee
Sydney Barnes
Curtly Ambrose
Dale Steyn
Wasim Akram
Dennis Lillee
Imran Khan
Allan Donald
Fred Trueman (in case Barnes wasn't a pacer)

So yeah, top 15 for me.

a little? Wasim's numbers against the big 4 is kinda questionable, I don't find his bowling as impressive bar his WI record tho tbh by early 90s WI batting was current Australia level washed.
Eh, I think his numbers against the big 4 is really strong. He suffers from his career post diabetes.

This was inspired by @Coronis' post above (I worked off his template): I've managed to sneak Garner's batting into the top 10 based on strike rate (at #9, or #8 if one excludes Murali):

I've even got Garner up as high as #7 (#6 excluding Murali) but tragically, it's to do with ducks made:
