A lot might depend on who else goes at the time. They won't want to lose 4 or5 players at once but at his age his body may pack up very quickly.
He's a finger spinner and has had very few injury problems in his career. Physically he could keep going for years yet.

Ashwin you'd have said the same about 12 months ago.

Though you'd think they'd like him to carry on by time Khawaja, Smith, Starc and Hazlewood have all gone.

Definitely, I don't think Lyon will retire, he will have to be forced out by Australia, unlike most cricketers , his Test career is all he has going for him in cricket so he'll be keen to play as much as possible

Lyon, Haze and Starc will all go pretty much the same time I would have thought. Who knows about Cummins. Could be a bit of a 2007- like mass retirement for the Aussies coming up soon

Yeah which is why Lyon may stay an extra year to help lessen the disruption.

Having gone through a mini revamp with England recently it is scary and exciting at the same time. Who can step up or looks like having ability to in future.

One of the differences has been that England were able to blood some others alongside their stalwarts, so they seemed a bit more ready to come in when they retired. But how often do you ever see anyone other than that main bowling 4? Even the usual reserve (Boland) is the same age.

Then you throw in the carnage trying to find one opener to replace Warner and remember Khawaja is on the way out too.

England won the next 3 Ashes after 2007......good times.
