*Unofficial* New Zealand Black Caps Thread

NZ are going to go from a medium fast swing and seam in NZ / English conditions style attack to a fast medium tall 'bounce and fast swing and seam' attack which should do well in all conditions but should be dynamite in Aussie conditions with the extra bounce over there.

This was in my YouTube feed, and I watched it. Coz it was going to trash Stead.

I don't know how 'in the know' Doull is anymore. Lives in UK and commentates in Asia. But he'd be more in the know than me ...

Also, don't know how reputable Devlin's podcast is. This is the first I've seen it.

Also a rather surprising personal attack on Sam Wells by Doull , as being a bitter man, bitter that he was bever a blackcap, lol. Not sure how this 'bitterness' would translate into the ridiculously conservative and indulgent selection policy, though.

Reputable? Why wouldn't it be?!

Doull is spot on over Southee there. Also, that criticism of Wells is funny if what he is saying is true. Wish Devlin had pressed him on it. It was begging for a follow up question.

Saying that, someone said the other day that the inside word was Stead wasn't listening to Wells, and Wells was pushing for change.

‘Genuine possibility’ Kyle Jamieson could play for the Black Caps this summer

Jamieson won't be in contention for the Champions Trophy one-day international tournament in Pakistan in February and March, but Stead hasn't ruled him out of the T20 and ODI series against Pakistan in late March and in early April that close out the home summer.

....

“When you look at the programme over the next three or four years, it would be great to have Kyle fit and going strong, together with the likes of Will – and Ben Sears," Stead said.

"They can all back up Tim, who isn't dead yet" he muttered as he walked away.

Doull made a play for becoming a selector, and wasn't appointed, so maybe he's the one who is bitter vis a vis Wells.
When was that? I didn't think he'd be interested as he's on one heck of a cushy number at the BCCI PR dept, while moonlighting as a commentator (if not a dictator).

Well if he's back bowling now hopefully he can be in the same attack as O'Rourke against Zimbabwe in July/August, that's our next test series.

Sam Wells a bitter man because he was never a NZ cricketer 🤣🧐

This is a guy who openly admitted he was shocked when he was selected, then knew it was his only chance because 6 months later Anderson and Neesham were ready to go.

Because Devlin has partly gone to the dark side of misinformation since COVID and not being on a 'mainstream' platform anymore.

Gary Stead has lost the dressing room?? He never had it.

And Sam Wells is a great guy, what the **** Doull is talking about there is beyond me. Doull would know about bitter. A genuinely **** bloke who left carnage in his wake in relationships throughout his life, is prepared to suck on any teet that offers the warm milk of money (especially rupees) and happy to rubbish anyone that doesn't run in his limited circle. He'd know nothing about the NZ environment because no one is interested in telling him.

From what I've been able to piece together, Wells is the guy getting new faces into the environment. More would probably get in if he wasn't just Stead's wingman.

I've held back on Doull but he is certainly known around Waikato and has had many tangible results.
